Driving to Portland from the south

Known to everyone but me, until a month ago: you can avoid the 50¢ toll when you get off of I-95 (northbound) onto I-295 by taking exit 45 (Maine Mall/Payne Rd) instead of exit 44 (I-295). There is then an exit-thingy off of Payne Rd onto I-295, toll free (its number is 1-800-Portland!!)

Becky's Diner

Every time I say "Becky's Diner," Emily says, "Becky's Dinah, nothing finah." It seems to come up often, but I'd never been until this morning. I kept hearing great things about it! I was so psyched! ... But the hash browns were large, cool, and mushy. My eggs weren't cooked to order ("very well done" != yolk that runs). The toast, however, was excellent. I'm willing to try it again.

In the Beginning...

I'm no authority on Portland, Maine. I don't get out too much. But, you know what they say: an ounce of pretension is worth a pound of culture. Point being, there's stuff to do and I'm doing some of it, and sometimes I'm just bursting with opinions.
