Know Your State

Ok, folks: for everyone who missed it in fourth grade, go check out to the Maine County song. For more info on Maine's counties, check out the kid's page on them. It has all kinds of useless information like the seats, sizes, and pops of the Maine Counties, plus the full text of the county song. Oh, boy!

Step out, write in, move up

So my roommate/co-blogger here is moving out to Vancouver; this means she will no longer be the hipper, more informed opinion here. I'd be super-psyched if another somewhat hip, somewhat informed person would step in and write up an event or two sometimes. In fact, nearly anyone would be welcome, because my posts may become a lot more prose-y and infrequent when I start college this fall.

In other news, I'm looking for an apartment/roommate...

Goodwill Sale

I overheard that everything at the Cumberland Ave Goodwill (down the street from the Public Market) is 60% off. And that they're going out of business? That doesn't make sense to me, but there are at least 2 other Goodwills in Portland (St. John St, across from the Greyhound bus station, and way out on Forest Ave).

Jim's

Jim's is a freaking insta-party. We walked by around 12:30 am one of the first nights there was live music, and they had three cops and a noise complaint. These days, there are people hanging around on the sidewalk outside and music flooding down Congress Street. So, is it the live music, the good (from what I've heard) pizza, or the $1 PBR drafts?

Wait, did you catch that? For cheaper than you can get coffee ($1.29) in this town, Jim's sells Pabst Blue Ribbon ($1.00) during happy hour. Granted, that's about what it's worth, but... ### Congress St, 5-9 pm.
